Lilly Joel new CD, Japan and 'Le Petit Faucheux'

19th August 2015, 12:06

I’m thrilled to announce that the first recoding of Lilly Joel, the improv/electro duo with Belgian singer Lynn Cassiers, is going to be released at the beginning of October on Sub Rosa. It’s called ‘What Lies In The Sea’, and I’m particularly happy with the music - something happened there - as well as with the fact to join the legendary Sub Rosa catalogue. As I write this, Norwegian sound-wizzard Erik Honoré is mixing the 11 tracks. I am actually super curious myself what it all will sound like once he’s done what he does. It has been a lot of fun to go trough all the stages with Lynn too. It’s different than making all the decisions myself. To be continued. In the mean time Im preparing for a three week trip to Japan with drummer Teun Verbruggen. We leave on August 31st and not only we’ll play a lot of solo’s and duo’s, we’ll also get the chance to meet and play with some outstanding local musicians, like Keiji Haino, Toshimaru Nakamura and quite some others. We’ll record with Keiji and Toshimaru as well, two records that should come out somewhere in 2016. But before that we’ll finish the duo record with Benoît Delbecq. Another duo I’m very enthusiastic about, and I hope we’ll get to play some live-shows too.Besides all that, ‘Le Petit Faucheux’ in Tours, one of the most adventurous jazz-venues in France, asked me to be their ‘artiste associé’ for 2016 and 2017. Not only that will enable me to develop my own music and invite some of my favorite colleagues there, it also means that I’ll get to develop quite some projects with local schools and various associations - repliche orologi something I dreamed of doing since a while. Playing music is one thing, exchange trough music directly with a lot of different people whose focus and spot in life is organized very differently is another thing. I’m grateful to be able to go there that way.Ok I’ll try and write news items more often than once a year. It surely will be benign to the vibe of this site and my news-posts. Love to all!
